Shakur was born on June 16, 1971, into an African-American family in the East Harlem section of Manhattan in New York City. He was taken to University Medical Center of Southern Nevada, where he died from his injuries six days later. On September 7, 1996, Shakur was fatally shot four times in a drive-by shooting at the intersection of Flamingo Road and Koval Lane in Las Vegas, Nevada.
